HRS President Attends Winter Symposium in Brazil

Washington - Health Resource Solutions, Inc. (HRS) President Venessa Perry Hadley was recently among the delegation of physicians who attended the Association of Black Cardiologist (ABC) Annual Winter Symposium held in Bahia, Brazil.

The ABC is dedicated to eliminating the disparities related to cardiovascular disease in all people of color focused the conference on examining the health disparities among Afro-Brazilians. Afro-Brazilians represent the largest population of African-descent individuals outside the African continent with 72 million people of color which is 45% of Brazil’s inhabitants.

HRS President Venessa Perry Hadley acknowledged, “Disparities in Bahia are pervasive. The minorities there have limited access to services and are plagued with a variety of ailments, many of which are related to their diet which is very heavy in meat and palm oil. The morbidity and mortality rates in Bahia from cardiovascular disease are on par and comparable with what you would find in the United States among African-Americans.”
